Seven Jazz are bringing more international jazz stars to Leeds during October!

Sun Oct 2: Asaf Sirkis/Sylwia Bialas International Quartet @Inkwell. Doors 1.00pm
Sylwia Bialas  vocals, Asaf Sirkis drums, Conor Chaplin bass/harmonica, Frank Harrison- piano and keyboards. This Sunday 2 October Israeli-UK drummer Asaf Sirkis, and Polish vocalist Sylwia Bialas bring their quartet at Inkwell in a gig which will be featured on Radio 5 live! "Soulful melodies, atmospheric sounds, a colourful style of jazz with an ethnic touch." £9/7 (NUS £5 on the door)

Tina May vocals, Enrico Pieranunzi piano This Thursday evening at Seven Arts - "Enrico Pieranunzi, the Italian pianist who accompanied Chet Baker in the 1970’s and 80’s is an underrated giant of European jazz. He’s an uncannily sensitive foil for vocalists as well as a gifted improviser and composer. This UK tour pairs him well with the accomplished British singer Tina May with whom he recorded the album "Home is where the heart is" in 2015. Deceptively low lit music with a hot creative core" John Fordham - Guardian.

Unadulterated, passionate music with no excuses and no apologies. For the past thirty years Ellery Eskelin has been at the forefront of the global creative improvised music scene. Based in New York City, he has travelled widely performing, recording and amassing a very personal and iconoclastic body of work. With Matthew Bourne, a Perrier award winning contemporary classical composer and avant-garde pianist and Chris Sharkey, a guitarist improviser, composer £12/10 (NUS £5 on the door). Sun Oct 16: The Music of Peggy Lee – the Tessa Smith Quintet  @Inkwell Doors 1.00pm Tessa Smith vocals, Stuart MacDonald sax, Andy Cholerton piano, John Marley bass, John Arnesen drums  Leeds vocalist, lindy hopper and our jazz choir leader, Tessa Smith pays tribute to the exquisite sultry vocals of the late great Peggy Lee, singer, actress and composer of songs like “He’s a tramp” and “I love being here with you” £9/7 conc, NUS £5 concessions kids under 16 free.

Sun Oct 23:Ben Lowman's "Django Project" @Seven Arts  Doors 1.00pm Kate Peters - Vocals, Riley Stone-Lonergan - Soprano, Alto - Ben Lowman, Tenor - Andrew Cox, Baritone - Russell Henderson, Guitars - Jamie Taylor & Sam Dunn, Bass - Garry Jackson, Drums - Steve Hanley. Django Project are a nonet that perform music in a French Gypsy Jazz style. The band have beautifully intertwined melodies with a steaming hot rhythm section, combining to create a rich, driving authentic sound.   £10/8 conc, NUS £5 concessions kids under 16 free
