LCoM emerging artists play Bradford and Leeds

Leeds College of Music is where jazz education in the UK started 50 years ago this year. Two Yorkshire jazz venues are showcasing new bands/emerging artists from the current crop of students in the next couple of weeks

On Saturday afternoon 30 April, Bradford JATP present Scott Duff's "Everywhere is War", music influenced by the ECM label, Sean Howe's "Militant Pedestrian" (influences include the Roller Trio, Jeff Buckley) and the DS Murray Quartet . This will be a lunchtime session 1.30 for 2pm at Glyde House Bradford BD5 0BQ, Admission free

On Sunday afternoon 1 May Seven Jazz Leeds present the first of their College Collections featuring Latgrove Sextet "Latin and Afrobeat" , Joe Lockwood-Joel Fellick guitar duo, Laura Swarbrick sextet at Seven Arts Leeds 31 Harrogate Road Chapel Allerton Leeds LS73PD 1.30-4pm £10/8 conc, NUS £5 on the door

On Sunday afternoon 8 May Seven Jazz Leeds have a second College Collection, his time featuring Prohibited Strangers, who celebrate British jazz in all its glory with repertoire from some of the greats like Mike Walker, Nikki Iles and Iain Ballamy, the three singer accupella group Vocal-ese with  Benjamin Sermon, Georgina Barr and Helena Debono, and the Joshua Smout group  at Inkwell 31 Potternewton Lane, Chapel Allerton LS7 3LW, 1.30-4pm £7/5 conc
