Busy September at the Jazz Co-op

Tony Rose and"Hermosa"12 September

September starts with a bang (well at least a crash cymbal) at Jazz.Coop with five gigs and three learning activities in the first two weeks.

On Thursday 3 September we've arranged gigs in Durham and Newcastle (as we usually do on the first Thursday of each month). The monthly jazz session at Empty Shop in Durham features up-and-coming guitarist Bradley Johnston and his quartet while at the Globe in Newcastle we are holding another of our cross-genre Folk Meets Jazz evenings.

On Saturday 5 September Jazz Machine, the high energy quartet led by experimental saxophonist Pepe Greenaway, returns to the Globe this time with new guitarist Adam Sams.

On Friday 11 September there's the second of our new Friday Spin Off events, this one featuring folk/blues acts Shotgun Riders and John Bridle.

On Saturday 12 September London-based saxophonist Tony Rose comes to Newcastle with Hermosa, a quartet influenced by the West Coast jazz of the 1940s and 50s.

We are launching a new season of Play Jazz! workshops at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 5 September and on Sunday 13 September we continue with our monthly Am Jam sessions, designed for less experienced jazz musicians.

On Thursday 10 September the group of individual aspiring vocalists Indigo Jazz Voices are rehearsing at the Globe - it's practice rather than performance but you are welcome to listen and buy a drink.
