Davenham goes from strength to strength

Dave Atherton writes: "Whether you think you like jazz or not, there is nothing quite like listening to great professional musicians in the atmospheric setting that is jazz@davenham. Davenham Theatre have been hosting these concerts for 20 years now and, thanks to the safe keeping of Harry Evans, Ed Green and Dave Atherton, jazz@davenham goes from strength to strength.

Autumn season.
Amy Roberts/Richard Exall Quintet Thursday 24th Sept 8 pm start.
The Amy Roberts/Richard Exall Quintet features two of the most exciting and versatile musicians on the jazz scene today. Both multi-instrumentalists, they perform an eclectic range of high octane music on a range of clarinets, saxophones and flute. With inspiration drawn from their all-time heroes of reed players, Amy Roberts and Richard Exall perform well crafted arrangements that pay homage to Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Benny Goodman, Eddie 'Lockjaw" Davis, Cannonball Adderley, Earl Bostic, Charlie Parker and many more. Their performances include popular standards and vocals as well as more unusual material inspired from early jazz/swing and latin music, guaranteeing an entertaining program which crosses musical styles and boundaries that appeals equally to jazz aficionados and music lovers everywhere.
