Marius and more at Seven Jazz Leeds

The astonishing Norwegian composer and saxophonist Marius Neset makes his first appearance in the intimate surroundings of Seven Arts Leeds this month - Thursday 16th April 7.45pm. He'll be playing some music from his acclaimed new release "Pinball". An all star Anglo-Scandinavian line-up too including Magnus Hjorth on piano, Jim hart on vibes Petter Eldh on bass and Josh Blackmore on drums. Support is from young leeds trio "Zeitgeist" fusing together the harmony and improvisation of jazz, the robust and hypnotic rhythm of hip-hop and the rhythmic complexity and unusual structure of progressive rock.

Drummer Josh Blackmore then appears for us again - this time at our Inkwell venue with "Yana" - the new name for the improvising collective with vibesman Corey Mwamba and Leeds bassist Dave Kane Sunday afternoon 19th April.

But to start the month on Easter Sunday afternoon 5 April at Inkwell we have young Leeds sax star Ben Lowman getting a chance to stretch out with the Seven Jazz quartet... come along and enjoy the good music and good vibes!

Trumpeter Malcolm Strachan and tenorman Atholl Ransome from the Haggis Horns launch their new funky soul jazz venture at Seven Arts- "Soul Cooker" - on Sunday afternoon 12th April.

The end of the month sees our two popular "College Collection" concerts celebrating six new jazz ensembles from the current crop of Leeds College of Music - the stars of tomorrow, both at Seven Arts on Sunday afternoon 26 April and 3 May
