Hepworth Wakefield winter jazz series

From Sandra Carlon

Up-coming is a fabulous line-up of established and emerging northern jazz talent for the After Hours jazz series at The Hepworth Wakefield. The gallery’s popular live jazz, part of its monthly late-night opening events, and late night participation with Wakefield Artwalk, means audiences are able to enjoy top quality jazz in the unique atmosphere of THW’s modern cafĂ©/bar.

The winter series diary:
Thursday 16 October: Roller Trio
Thursday 20 November: Stretch Trio
Wednesday 26 November: Slowlight Quartet (Northern Line Artists - event part of Wakefield Artwalk)
Thursday 18 December: Spilt Milk
Thursday 15 January: Outside Line Quartet

Jazz at The Hepworth Wakefield is programmed in association with The Yorkshire Live Music Project (shortlisted Jazz Promoter of the Year, 2012 Jazz Yorkshire Awards)

YLMP administrator Sandra Carlon says: “As a collaborative organisation, using mainly non-traditional venues and as an organisation dedicated to audience development, we were thrilled and proud to be invited to support the live music offer at The Hepworth Wakefield. The monthly jazz series presents a fabulous opportunity for regular and new to jazz audiences alike. We hope the series helps support the northern platform showcasing the fabulous jazz talent the region has to offer. The feed-back has been hugely encouraging, with one audience member telling us she had enjoyed the event (Bach Reloaded September 2014) better than anything she had experienced in London!!”

All live jazz events are admission free, begin at 6pm and finish at approximately 8pm. At it’s monthly After Hours events, the gallery’s exhibition spaces are open to 9pm and live jazz for After Hours forms part of THW’s events programme.
