Seven Jazz Leeds offerings for May...

Our summer season starts here! This summer we’re putting on thirty six band, two jazz festivals, four big bands, five jam session, our jazz choir and workshops....(phew!). We've also three fantastic evening concerts starting with BBC award winning jazz pianist Jason Rebello (pictured above) in May, vocalist and bassist Nicola Farnon with her all star quartet in June and US saxman Greg Abate in July. Jason Rebello solo on grand piano @Seven Arts Thursday 18 May 8pm
British pianist Jason Rebello is regarded as one of the most inventive pianists to emerge from the UK since he burst onto the scene in the early 90’s with a run of albums for the BMG label. Jason has worked mainly with electronic keyboards in his own groups (as well as with Sting and Jeff Beck); but now he has decided it’s time to say something on the instrument he loves. Jason has released his debut solo piano album, featuring mostly originals inspired by the people and places that have been important in his career. Support is from Phil Green’s “Quiet Jazz project” 8-8.30pm

Nel Begley vocals  Nick Fitch guitar, Roz MacDonald bass and Eliot Richards sax 
Nel pays tribute to Ella Fitzgerald on what would have been her 100th birthday. LCoM Student Union Big Band @Seven Arts 28 May 1.30pm
This Big Band has established itself in the city as one of the best big bands winning prizes at the most recent North of England 2017 Big Band competition in Sunderland. Over 20 members strong, it is an exciting ensemble with a big sound and a big ambition. Seven Arts 31 Harrogate Road, Chapel Allerton, Leeds LS7 3PD. Sunday afternoon 28 May.
