Parr Jazz in April...

Riognach Connelly
From John Mccormick-

Hello again to all you good citizens of ParrJazzland.  April - the month named after Aphrodite is upon us. Spring Fever is in the air.  The clocks have been instructed to 'spring forward' so daylight stretches ever more into the evenings.  An action packed month too. Both inside the club and out. Outside of our jazz emporium there's of course April Fools Day, Easter, Passover, Buddha's Birthday, St. Georges Day and lots more including, in the USA - "Jazz Appreciation Month". Which brings us inside the club to our own action packed programme

On the 7th April believe it or not it's that time again - another year's flown by so we'll be celebrating our 6th. Birthday ! It's also the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Billie Holiday so we must pay tribute to her too. To help the party go with a real swing we have as our special guest the fantastic pianist and vocalist Mr. Anthony Kinsey plus our traditional birthday cake, nibbles and an all star jam session taking us into the early hours

The following week 14th April - a first timer to the club , bringing his own individual take on the music of the late great Chet Baker,  we're very pleased to welcome the wonderful Greg Francis on trumpet, flugel horn & vocals.

Next up, Riognach Connelly -  new to us and one of the sassiest , soulful singers around! Plus she plays a mean wooden flute - 21 April.

There's no anti-climax either , we close out the month on 28th April with the amazing Paul Riley & Crew. Great band who manage to combine cutting edge and melodic invention with impressive ease .

Lots more fantastic stuff in the pipeline too including the Matt Owen Band and star vocalist Sueyo -  both with us in May plus a host of other great guests down the line.

As always more about them in the next issue of the 'ParrJazz Bugle' !

Keep swingin'!
